TL City Board adopts budget, resident protests access fees

The Timber Lake City Board had the first reading of the proposed 2024 budget at the regular monthly meeting on September 11. A special meeting was held September 18 for the second and final reading. As adopted the budget shows $723,352 for the general fund.

Annual Coal Springs Threshing Show to celebrate 25 years this weekend

The Coal Springs Threshing Bee & Antique Show - a much-anticipated annual event - will mark its 25th anniversary Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-25, at the Coal Springs Antique Club grounds along SD Highway 73, just two miles from Meadow corner.

King Dan and Queen Kenlea

Seniors Dan Peterson and Kenlea Heck were crowned Timber Lake High School’s 2023 Homecoming King and Queen during a ceremony Monday evening, Sept. 18. Dan is the son of Leah Peterson of Timber Lake and Kenlea is the daughter of Misty and Brandon Heck of Isabel.

Franzen to replace Ducheneaux as county auditor

Dewey County will have a new county auditor as of September 26, following action by the county commissioners last week. Jamalia Franzen, current deputy auditor, will replace Mary Ducheneaux, who submitted her resignation at the September 5 commission meeting.
