Federal court upholds convictions of man and woman for 2023 murders

A federal appeals court has officially affirmed the convictions of a mother and son for a violent 2023 killing on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation.In a ruling issued May 13, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit sided with the government in the case of Bailey Belt and Theodora Belt.

Linderman named to President’s List

Abby Linderman, a 2023 graduate of Timber Lake High School, was named to the President’s List for the spring 2026 semester at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls. Abby is a Surgical Technology student and maintained a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher to earn this honor.

Dupree School receives Gladys Pyle Award

Dupree High School was honored to receive the Gladys Pyle Award from Secretary of State Monae Johnson. Johnson created the award to recognize schools for their efforts in getting students registered to vote. Schools that get 90% or higher registered are eligible to receive the award.
