South Dakota picnic in Florida

The South Dakota 72nd Annual Picnic in Florida will be held on Saturday, February 28 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 13600 Caspian Lane, Clermont FL 34711.Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. WHAT TO BRING: casseroles, hot dishes, salads or desserts.
Matthew Busch, a senior archaeologist with the S.D. State Historical Society’s Archaeological Research Center in Rapid City, will talk about artifacts and archaeology at the Timber Lake Museum on Tuesday, February 17 at 6 p.m. MT. Busch will do a presentation, show examples, and answer questions. The public is welcome at the free event and invited to bring artifacts or unidentified objects for a show and tell session. Twenty-three students graduated on Feb.6 from the South Dakota Basic Telecommunicator Certification Course.Among those graduating were Amy Blankartz, Donovan Knecht and KiaraSchmeichel, all with the Mobridge Police Department.

The Department of the Interior announced a new partnership Monday between the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Education aimed at preparing Native students for careers in wildland firefighting, strengthening the workforce while creating school-to-career pathways for tribal youth.
