Timber Lake Elementary receives National Blue Ribbon Award

Timber Lake Elementary School is one of four schools in South Dakota and 297 in the nation to receive the 2022 National Blue Ribbon School Exemplary High Performing School Award.

Timothy Red Elk, 42, of Cherry Creek, convicted of first degree burglary, was sentenced on August 22, 2022 by Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange to 33 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

CRST, Oglala Sioux purchase land near Wounded Knee site

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) and the Oglala Sioux petitioned the U.S. Dept. of the Interior last week to take 40 acres of land around the Wounded Knee National Historic Landmark into trust on behalf of both tribes.
