Juneteenth Holiday

Because the new national holiday, Juneteenth, falls on Sunday, June 19, it will be observed on Monday, June 20. Government offices, post offices and banks will be closed. Locally, most businesses will be open.

Election tallies

The votes cast in Dewey County at the June 7 primary election can be found on page 3. The Dewey County Commission canvassed the results at a special meeting on June 9 and found no changes from what was initially reported.

Isabel’s Rope Roghair won the saddle bronc riding title for the Northwest Region of the South Dakota High School Rodeo Association (SDHSRA) on Saturday, June 4, while Trey Fuller of Faith was crowned boy’s cutting champion.
