Dupree Esports team earns fourth place at State Esports Tournament

Dupree School achieved a fourth‑place finish at the State Esports Tournament in Aberdeen. This is the team’s first year competing in the es‑ports program.

Students of the Month for Dupree High/Middle School

Another pair of rental homes arrived in Timber Lake last week and are being set at the corner of F and Sixth streets next to the other duplex (at right) which has been occupied for a year. Timber Lake Area Development purchases the homes from South Dakota Housing Authority as part of their ongoing effort to provide more housing in the community. The new units have two bedrooms and one bathroom. The homes at right have three bedrooms, two baths and a garage.

Isabel board okays alcohol license for Red Earth Table

The Isabel Board of Trustees conducted two public hearings prior to its regular monthly meeting last Tuesday, Feb. 10.One was for an application for an alcoholic beverage license while the other was for recent re-codification or revisions of the town’s municipal ordinances and codes.

Timber Lake School’s Teacher of the Year is preschool teacher Nancy Enright (above right), who was honored at a school assembly on February 11. She was presented with a plaque and floral bouquet by elementary principal Sarah Schweitzer (above left).

Isabel Town Board, Fire Dept. address drop in classification

The town of Isabel and the Isabel Fire Department are working together to address a significant drop in the community’s Public Protection Classification which, if left as is, could result in higher insurance premiums for home and property owners.

DOI introduces plan for training Native wildland firefighters

The Department of the Interior announced a new partnership Monday between the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Indian Education aimed at preparing Native students for careers in wildland firefighting, strengthening the workforce while creating school-to-career pathways for tribal youth.
