Ribbon cutting held for YMCA Tiny Homes project in Dupree

There was a lot of excitement and celebration in Dupree on Sunday, Sept. 21 when people from all over the country were in town putting the finishing touches on four tiny homes, a project that began in 2020.

Isabel trustees budgeting for improvement projects

The Isabel Board of Trustee last week approved the first reading of its 2026 Appropriations Ordinance, which shows a budget increase of just over $80,000 from this year.Appropriations for 2026 total $493,224 compared to $410,484 in 2025 - a jump of $82,740.

More than 100 high school freshmen from eight area schools - Timber Lake, Bison, Dupree, Faith, Takini, McIntosh, Lemmon and Tiospaye Topa - participated last Tuesday, Sept.
A new building for Western Dakota Bank’s Isabel branch rolled into town last week and was placed on its foundation. Built by Custom Touch Homes in Madison, the building is located on Highway 20 just south of the Isabel Community Center and includes a drive-through window. Timber Lake School Board okays $12M budget

At its September 9 meeting, the Timber Lake School Board approved a budget for the fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.The total expenditure budget is $12,221,185, which is $463,919 less than last year’s budget.

Annual Coal Springs threshing show set for September 26-28

Horses and mules will be the feature attraction at the 27th Annual Coal Springs Threshing Bee, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26-28 at the showgrounds just south of the Meadow corner on SD Highway 73.Anyone with a team that is suited to the activities of a threshing bee is invited to bring them.

Pheasant season outlook very positive in, around Dewey Co.

The fall pheasant hunting outlook for Dewey County and the surrounding area this year is very positive, with good pheasant production expected due to favorable nesting and broodrearing conditions from adequate spring and summer moisture, and the continuation of excellent grassland habitat.

Taggen Paxton, son of Tyson Paxton and Danae Paxton, was chosen as a Jr. Beef Ambassador caddie for professional golfer Andy North at the Sanford International PGA Tour of Champions tournament Sept. 12-13 in Sioux Falls.North had three tournament wins when on the PGA Tour, including the U.S.
