The memorial service for Doris D. Soiseth, 98, of Fort Yates, ND was held July 1, 2026, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fort Yates with burial at the church cemetery.
Doris passed away on June 19 at Fort Yates IHS Hospital.
Doris was born March 9, 1928 in rural Mobridge to Obede and Cecelia LeCompte. Raised in a loving and close-knit family, she developed the compassion, strength, and kindness that would define her life.
A graduate of Fort Yates High School Class of 1946, Doris earned her dental technician certification in 1960. She served primarily at the Indian Health Service Hospital in Fort Yates and also in Pine Ridge, Flandreau, Lower Brule, and Cheyenne River.
Doris was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fort Yates. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Doris was known for her generosity, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gwen Valandra; her brother, Dean LeCompte; and her children: Linda (Claymore) DuBray, Delano Claymore, Richard Claymore, Kenneth Claymore, Brent Claymore, and Sidney Claymore; and grandchildren Lisa Claymore, Ritchie Claymore and Carl Claymore.
Doris is survived by her husband, Charlie Soiseth, whom she married in 1979; her son Scott Jacobson; her brother Del LeCompte; son-in-law LeRoy DuBray (significant other, Kathy Boehler); daughter-in-law Charlene Claymore (Brent); sister Freda LeCompte; her adopted children, Craig and Claudene Eagleshield and Peggy Ward; grandchildren Kansas DuBray (Deanna)and Jamus Meade and great-grandson Finnegan Meade, Dee Ann DuBray (Warren), JW Yellowfat, BJ Claymore, Bret Claymore, Anja Bears Ghost (Randy), Margaret Ann (Charles) Krebs, and Lori Martin; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
