Memorial services for Larry Lee Kelsch, 77, of Selfridge, ND will be held September 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. CT at Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge. Larry died on September 15, 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND.
Larry was born October 21, 1948, and raised in North Dakota. He graduated from Selfridge Public School. After high school, he attended Sioux Falls Barber College and apprenticed under Ralph Mitliede in Mitchell, beginning his career as a barber.
On July 18, 1968, Larry enlisted in the United States military and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He was wounded on March 13, 1970. For his service and sacrifice, Larry received the Purple Heart, along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with two Overseas Service Bars, and the Expert Badge with Rifle Bar (M-16) and Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar (M-14).
Larry remained proud of his military service throughout his life. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
On June 26, 1971, Larry married June Fisher at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Selfridge. Together, they built a family filled with love, memories, and generations that would carry their family legacy forward.
Larry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a proud veteran and hardworking man. His dedication to his country, his family, and the people around him left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Larry is survived by his children: Travis (Rachel) and Nevada; and his grandchildren: Lexus (Lane), Tanner (Jenna), Logan (Amber), Tailyn (Lane), Cutter, and Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody.
