Richard “Dick” Bordeaux

March 13, 1941 – July 20, 2020

Richard Bordeaux, 79, of LaPlant, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Avantara in Pierre.

Due to current COVID regulations set forward by CRST Tribal Council, a private service will be held.

Richard “Dick” Bordeaux was born March 13, 1941 to Arthur Ted Bordeaux and Violet Victoria Lee-Bordeaux. He grew up at his grandparents’, Henry and Molly Lee’s, place. He attended school at the Old Agency, where he played football.

After graduating in 1959, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. After he was honorably discharged, he attended the RTS Training Center and the Auto Mechanics Institute in Los Angeles, CA, where he received his degree in electrical engineering and became a master mechanic. While there, Richard met and married Elizabeth Nashaknik. Together they had three sons, Chris, Richard, and Arthur Bordeaux.

Richard was employed as a bus driver and worked at the BIA school kitchen. He also worked at the old Rousseau hardware store where he repaired electronics such as tvs and radios. He had a great sense of humor and liked to tell stories about growing up and reminiscing about the old days.

Richard “Dick” Bordeaux is survived by his sons, Richard and Arthur Bordeaux; sisters Rosalyn Arpan, Jennifer Maupin, Lee Bordeaux, and Connie Laplante; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; brothers Harold Lee, Chris “Shorty” Bordeaux, LouAllen Bruce Bordeaux; twin sisters, Connie Rose and Jennifer LeeAnn Bordeaux; sisters, Eva Bordeaux-Garreaux and Viola Bordeaux; brother-in-law, Albert “Swap” Arpan, Sr., and son, Chris Allen Bordeaux.
