Memorial services for Vallee Rae Anderson, 85, of Eagle Butte were held December 21, 2020 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Inurnment was at the Timber Lake Cemetery.
Vallee Rae passed away December 11, 2020 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre. She was born November 5, 1935 to Alferd and Mabel Malloy at the family farm near Firesteel.
On May 20, 1956 she married Russell “Boyd” Anderson and together they had four children: Duane, Larry, LeeAnn, and Patrick.
Vallee Rae was business manager at the Eagle Butte School and also worked at the Eagle Butte Post Office for over 30 years.
She was an avid animal lover and could never turn away a stray. Her kind and loving heart extended to many people; she would never hesitate to help someone in need. She would always offer others a warm meal, a listening ear, or a gentle hug. She became like a second mother to many.
She loved reading, enjoyed writing poetry and was actively involved in the United Church of Christ. In the summer of 2019, she was able to fulfill her dream of visiting Ireland. She truly treasured the beauty, sights, and traditions of her Irish heritage.
Vallee Rae was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Viola “Buddie” Malloy, and her three brothers Gene, Dallas, and Marles.
Survivors are her husband Russell “Boyd” Anderson; her children: Duane (Julie) Anderson of Pierre, Larry (Kathy) Anderson of Eagle Butte, LeeAnn (Bill) Collins of Spearfish, and Patrick Anderson (Cassy Oviatt) of Edgemont; grandchildren Kade Anderson, Ray Michael Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Hali Olson, Tanner Triscori, and Ashley Even; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister Geraldine (Jerry) Patterson; stepbrother Vincent Humann; and stepsisters Sylvia Kempf, Patty Kjellsen, and Kathellen Lehrkamp.
