At their year-end meeting on December 28, the Dewey County Commissioners approved a budget supplement of $100,000 for the 2017 Highway and Bridge Fund, the money to come from cash on hand.

The board also made transfers totaling $30,180 from the commissioners’ contingency fund to meet final 2017 expenses for five budget categories.

Dewey County Sheriff Les Mayer reported on options for a new patrol vehicle to be purchased in 2018. The commissioners authorized the purchase of a Ford pickup to replace the 2013 Ford Explorer, which has 104,000 miles on it. The new vehicle will cost approximately $37,000, and, if ordered soon, will be delivered in the spring. It will be financed through Western Dakota Bank, which had the best interest rate of 3.99%, Mayer said.
