Ronald L. “Bear Cub” Pearman, 67, of Eagle Butte passed away February 16, 2021 at the Cheyenne River Health Center in Eagle Butte.

Funeral services were held February 22, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte with Fr. John Paul Trask presiding. Burial was in Mossman Cemetery near Ridgeview with military honors.

Ronald Lloyd Pearman was born May 15, 1953 at the Old Cheyenne Agency to Kenneth and Stella (Azure) Pearman. He attended Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools and completed his diploma while serving in the military at Great Bend College in Washington.

On October 29, 1971 Ronald was united in marriage to Donita “Nita” Marshall in Pierre. They made their home in Gillette, WY where Ronald worked in the oil rigs with his brothers. In 1973 they moved to Eagle Butte and Ron enlisted in the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1978.

Ronald returned to his family following his service and went to work building homes in North Dakota. He then returned home to work for Tri-County Water. His next job was with the BIA, where he dedicated the next 25 years of his life, working in maintenance. When he left the BIA, he went to work for Eagle Butte I.H.S. Hospital as maintenance supervisor, until he retired in 2017, due to health reasons.

He was a member of the American Legion and All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing poker, bowling, listening to music, singing karaoke, attending rodeos, and shootings darts and pool.

Ronald will be remembered as a man who loved his family more than life itself. He will be remembered as a humble, kindhearted, and quiet man with a heart of gold.

Those left to cherish his life are his wife of 50 years, Nita of Eagle Butte; children: Marshall “Hoss” (Tanya) of Mission, Ronda Pearman (Martin) Lawrence “LJay” (Jonni), and Chad Pearman, all of Eagle Butte; his grandchildren: Hudson Pearman, Halsey Pearman, Layton Haskell, Asher Pearman, Lexi Jewett, Ashlyn Jewett, Amira Pearman, Ava Pearman, and Taya Johnson; siblings: James (Terry) Pearman, Toni (Wayne) Garreau, Sally Pearman (Pat Schrempp), all of Eagle Butte; Stephanie (Gerald) Davidson of Rapid City, Susie (Kenny) Traversie, and Carson Mound of Eagle Butte; brother-in-law Bill Keoke of Sisseton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
