October 19, 1931 — July 30, 2021

Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Clausen, 89, of Mobridge was held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Alice passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, at Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Alice was born October 19, 1931 to Joseph and Hannah (Kraft) Fischer. She grew up in Eagle Butte, one of twelve children.

Alice attended school until eighth grade, then worked for her uncle in Clark in a restaurant and met the love of her life, Donald Clausen. They were married June 14, 1951 in Clark, where they made their home for a short time. They moved to Mobridge in 1952.

They had four children. Alice worked at the Moose Lodge as a waitress for many years until Donald’s health became bad and she took on her role as caretaker as long as she was physically able to.

Alice loved her flowers, her butterflies, and her birds. She thrived on a clean house, she loved cooking for her kids, especially cream style chicken, chocolate chip cookies, and homemade pizza. She loved driving around looking at the river and going on lunch dates.

The ones closest to her knew her fiery personality. She loved telling stories to her grandkids about her childhood and she prided herself on having a sharp mind. She was an “energizer Bunny” never sitting down. Her zest for life was powerful and she always kept her Catholic faith and her faith in the Lord.

She is survived by her son Joe (Wanda) Clausen; her three granddaughters - Allison, Monica (JR) McKee, Kira (Jamie) Henderson, her great-grandchildren, Harmony, Dreamer, Meika, Jayden, Logan, Carson, Aurora, Paxton and Kellen; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; her husband Donald; and three children, Allen, Jim, and Dianna.
