Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Knodel, 86, of Mobridge was held August 26, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge. Burial was August 27 at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Margaret Marge Knodel passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Avantara Ipswich Nursing Home in Ipswich.
Margaret “Marge” was born March 23, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa to John and Ardith Hazel. The family moved to South Dakota, where she graduated from Isabel High School in 1955.
She was united in marriage to Donald Knodel June 11, 1956. They raised their four children in Isabel, Timber Lake, Lead, Faith, and Hoven. After all the children graduated, they moved to Mobridge in 1981, where she resided until moving to Ipswich in April, 2021.
Marge and Don had many adventures including bar and restaurant operations, catering, day care, and apartment building management in Mobridge. Marge was an Avon representative and was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Mobridge Care Center for 12 years.
Marge was a very faithful and active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge, where she taught 2nd grade religion classes for many years.
She is survived by her husband Donald Knodel of 65 years; two sons, Calvin (Renee) Knodel and Les Knodel of Rock Springs, WY; daughters, Penny (Dan) Brenner of Aberdeen and Tina (Gerald) Thompson of Mobridge; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Hazel and sister Dawn Locken.
