Kent Fast Horse

April 11, 1973 – September 24, 2021

Funeral services for Kent Fast Horse, 48, of Eagle Butte were held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Eagle Butte Bingo Hall. Burial was at the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Kent passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at his home in Eagle Butte.

Kent Eldred Fast Horse was born on April 11, 1973, the second of three sons, to Joyce Circle Eagle and Eldred Fast Horse.

Kent grew up in Old Armstrong County and Red Scaffold. He attended Red Scaffold Day School and graduated from Cheyenne-Eagle Butte High School in 1991. While in school he played football and made some lifelong friends.

He attended one semester at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND then entered the United States Marine Corps but was given a medical discharge due to a heart condition.

Kent returned home and worked various jobs for the tribe. His favorite job was when his cousin, Joe Brings Plenty, was Chairman for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and he was able to travel and assist him in his duties.

Kent also loved doing ranch work. He often worked for local ranchers including Larry and Donna Mae Anderson and Rusty and Karen Pearman, where their families also became his.

Kent is survived by his brothers Kirk (Rikki) Fast Horse and Terry Jay Fast Horse of Eagle Butte and Michael (Tammy) Marshall; sisters Ardys (Bill) Jandreau and Shelly Alkire of Eagle Butte, Amy Marshall of Mandan, ND, Michon (Mark LeBeau) Marshall of Blackfoot, and Krissy (Ron) Black Bird of LaPlante; uncles Helbent Frazier of Tucson AZ, and Terry Halfred and Emmett Thompson of Eagle Butte; aunts Verlyn Fast Horse, Arlene Thompson and Bernie Halfred, all of Eagle Butte, Genie Carter of Rapid City and Delight Halfred of Red Scaffold; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Frank and Helen Halfred and Mazie Thompson; sisters Patty Kennedy and Marge Bears Heart; uncles Ronnie Halfred, Jumbo Halfred and Willie Frazier; and aunts Doris Hump, Mary Morgan, Ernestine Frank and Judy Four Bear,
