James Boldt

December 7, 1949 – October 2, 2021

Funeral services for James “Jim” Howard Boldt, 71, of Isabel were held Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Isabel Community Center. Burial was at Hillview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Jim went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 2, 2021 at home.

Jim was born December 7, 1949 in Mobridge to John Q and Stella (King) Boldt. He attended Liebelt County School and high school in Isabel, graduating in 1968.

He enlisted in the Army on March, 10, 1971 and was sent to Vietnam in 1971 and returned in 1972, and was honorably discharged on March 9, 1977.

Jim met Cheryl Nash in 1972 and they were married on June 22, 1974 and lived in Isabel until the fall of 1978. Jim worked for Scott Construction until 1978 and then worked for Moreau-Grand Electric until 1980. Later he purchased some of Doug Scott’s equipment and began Boldt Power Inc.

Jim and Cheryl had four children - CJ in 1978, Stacey in 1980, Chad in 1982 and Marie in 1984.

Jim enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish and ride horse and spending time with all of them and attending their many activities. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor to many. He built a highly respected business while instilling family values and work ethic into his employees.

Jim served his country and community with great passion and pride, never expecting anything in return. He never met a stranger but only a new friend. Jim was respected by many and considered a pillar of strength. One of his favorite lines was, “You don’t have to be paid for everything.”

He was a man of integrity, wisdom, courage and selfless service.

Jim is survived by his wife Cheryl; his children and 10 grandchildren, CJ (Chaysen, Tymber, Taelyn, and Jaeger), Stacey and Tyler, Chad and Karyl (Josie and Finley), Marie and Corrie (Treyton, Dylan and Colten); siblings Dolores (Hank) Salyer, Lois Bartlett, John Dean (Ina), Jay (Heidi), Vicky (Bill), John (Karma), and Lewis; and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stella; infant sister Lila Mae; father and mother in-law Francis and Betty Nash; brother-in-law Butch Bartlett; cousin George Boldt Jr; nephews Allen Salyer and Jeff Boldt; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
