Hayley Leibel of Timber Lake was a member of the first class of the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine to be honored at the Inaugural Blue Coat Ceremony held recently. She is the daughter of Cherie and the late Tim Leibel.
During the ceremony, students were presented with a personalized blue Carhartt work coat. The coats represent not only the hard work the students have completed to get to this point in their education, but the hard work ahead of them as they continue their education in veterinary medicine.
Each coat presented at the ceremony was sponsored by a local veterinarian, symbolic of the support the students can expect as they prepare to join the profession. Leibel’s coat was sponsored by Dr. Pat Prusha from Oahe Veterinary Clinic in Mobridge and Dr. Corale Dorn of Dells Veterinary Service in Dell Rapids.
Also a member of the class is Garrett Drum of Faith, whose coat was sponsored by Dr. Alice Harty from Milesville.
