SDSU installs new Mesonet Weather Station at Timber Lake Airport

  • Live images from Timber Lake are now available on the new Mesonet live cam, which records data and images from the Timber Lake City Airport 24-7. Similar Mesonet stations are at 40 locations throughout the state, including Eagle Butte, McIntosh, McLaughlin, Lemmon, Bison, Gettysburg, Union Center and Bowdle.
    Live images from Timber Lake are now available on the new Mesonet live cam, which records data and images from the Timber Lake City Airport 24-7. Similar Mesonet stations are at 40 locations throughout the state, including Eagle Butte, McIntosh, McLaughlin, Lemmon, Bison, Gettysburg, Union Center and Bowdle.

    All new equipment has been installed by South Dakota State University at its Mesonet weather station at the Timber Lake Airport.

    The upgraded station collects the following data:

    • Temperature and humidity

    • Wind • Sunshine

    • Sunshine

    • Precipitation (rain and snow)

    • Snow depth

    • Soil temperature and soil moisture at five depths

    • Temperature inversion

    • Weather cam images
