Shirley Bartolotta

June 14, 1961 – August 31, 2022

Celebration of life services for Shirley Bartolotta, 61, of Box Elder were held Sunday, September 11, 2022, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte.

Shirley passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at her home. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge was in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Gail Fiddler was born on June 14, 1961 in Yankton to Guy and Rosemary (Brownwolf) Fiddler. She spent her early years in White Horse and attended White Horse Day School and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School. Shirley then left her senior year and moved to California with her Aunt Lola, where she graduated in 1979. After graduation, she moved to Gilroy, CA where she worked for the USDA. When her grandmother became ill, Shirley moved back to South Dakota to help care for her.

Shirley met William Campbell in 1984. They married and to this union, a son, William Todd Campbell, Jr., was born. She lived in Mobridge until 1989, then moved back to Eagle Butte. Shirley worked for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for many years, mainly in financial positions.

In 1993 she met Kevin Bartolotta. They married and moved to Salinas, CA where her son David and daughter Jessie were born. They moved to Torrington, CT in 1996. A few years later, they welcomed Matthew.

She was actively involved in all of her kids’ activities Her favorite place to take them was Six Flags amusement/water park where she bought season passes every summer. She always made sure her kids were busy, happy, and adventuring.

She became a certified CNA and worked in Belle Fourche until becoming a home health technician for the Boysen and Miller families. She then moved to Rapid City, working at Monument Health Rehab until her passing.

She was passionate about everything she did in life and the people she loved. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. She loved to cook and was an avid traveler. Her most memorable trip was to Peru, where she climbed Machu Picchu.

She is preceded in death by her father, paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Shirley is survived by her sons: William Todd Campbell (Alyssa) and his children Bricen, Brody, Piper and Kinsey, David Bartolotta, and Matthew Bartolotta; daughter Jessie Bartolotta (Dan Rousseau) and her children Gracelyn Mary and Rylee Mae; mother Rosemary Juenesse, sisters Joyce Gunville, Hilary Amos, Teresa Brownwolf, Lois Yellowback, Lauraine Provost, Leslie Provost, Benita Clark, Cynthia Cook and Veronica Holy; brothers Paul Fiddler (Kasi), Jay Cook, Cyril Cook, Lyle Cook and Dale Cook; uncles Joey Fiddler (Nina), Steven Brownwolf and Dale Brownwolf; aunt Colleen Brownwolf; and many cousins, who were like sisters and brothers.
