Some people are on this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that they are watching over us. On September 20, 2022, Shawn Marie Lamb rejoined her heavenly family and friends.

Shawn was born to Jeffrey LeBeau and Anne Valandra in Mobridge on September 12, 1967. She found her voice at an early age, and such began her art of telling stories, singing and making people laugh. Shawn took on one of her favorite and most cherished roles of being a big sister after the birth of her three siblings (Michelle, Shane and Joshua).

Shawn attended school in Standing Rock until her graduation. She attended Black Hills State University until she met the love of her life, Delbert “Gumbo” Lamb. They married in February 1987 and had two

children, Delbert and Kristopher (“Kritter”). Shawn’s greatest loves were her children and family – she would do anything for them. Shawn and Gumbo worked hard and tirelessly to provide opportunities and support for their children.

Despite her large extended family, Shawn always made time for everyone. Her favorite activity was to visit, which led to her making friends anywhere and everywhere. Her only request for birthdays or holidays was a phone call. She could talk for hours in person or on the phone. Her memory was impeccable. She would recall the funniest stories, give spot-on impressions, and would always listen no matter the circumstances. She loved to cook, keep an immaculate house, and listen to music.

Shawn lived a full life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her biggest wish would be to carry her memory on with stories and laughs Shawn is survived by her mother, Anne of Fort Yates, ND; stepfather Sandy Luger of Fort Yates; her sons, Delbert Lamb (Abby) of Brookline, MA and Kristopher Lamb (Kamy) of White Horse; grandchildren Payton and Kazmer; her siblings, Michelle LeBeau of Kansas, Shane Luger (Camie) of Fort Yates, and Josh Luger (Sabrina) of Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law, Deleen (Albert) Kougl of Arizona, and Nadeen (Art) Clifton of Faith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, dear friends and acquaintances.

She is preceded in death by her husband Delbert (“Gumbo”) Lamb; her father, Jeffrey LeBeau; and grandparents, Fred LeBeau, Mae Lawrence LeBeau, and Gordon and Gwendolyn Valandra.
