December 19, 1960 – October 6, 2022
Funeral services for Kevin “Fuzzy” Thompson, 61, of Wakpala were held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Wakpala. Interment under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home followed at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, rural Wakpala.
Kevin “Fuzzy” Thompson was born in Eagle Butte to Alvin Thompson Sr. and Harriet Two Hearts Thompson on December 19, 1960. He began his journey in White Horse and grew up in Mobridge.
During his lifetime, he lived in various towns and cities across South Dakota. His family always said that for someone who usually didn’t have a car, he went more places than most, including Colorado, Florida, and Texas. He traveled sometimes in a car, but mostly on foot. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan. Football was just something else to watch while he worked diligently on some art project he was doing at the time.
Fuzzy attended school in Mobridge and United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND. He did work various jobs, but his livelihood was his talent of art, creating many pieces which family, friends, and strangers alike have the privilege of owning. He was always available to lend a hand and he made sure that people were taken care of. His family said he was their “behind the scenes guy” doing the leg work to get things in order and cleaning up afterwards during any family events. Even after his journey here on earth he continues to give. The gift of sight will be received by one individual through the Dakota Lions Sight and Health Foundation.
Fuzzy is survived by his siblings: Chip, Brian, Connie, Holly, and Galen Thompson; his children: Shana Thompson, Tighson Lend His Horse, Keshia Yellow Horse, Ranson Yellow Horse, Tyanna Stevens, and Harley Morrison; and numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Sr. and Harriet Thompson, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandchildren.
