Wilma Jean Marshall, 77, of Rapid City passed away on October 14, 2022.
Jean was born on March 29, 1945 in Timber Lake to Leonard and Leona (Shadduck) Perry. She attended Timber Lake School. She married Dale R. Marshall on October 28, 1964. They made their home on a farm north of Timber Lake until 1985. She took great pride in and enjoyed caring for her sheep on the farm.
They moved their family to Rapid City in 1985, where she worked at several restaurants baking pies and biscuits early in the mornings. She then worked at South Dakota School of Mines, as a cashier in the Surbeck Center. She loved visiting with all the students, learning about their lives and career hopes for the future. She retired from the School of Mines to care for her husband, Dale. Jean enjoyed sewing, baking, and making quilts, and made many themed children’s quilts.
Jean was mother to Darien (Marla) Marshall, Amy (Kevin) Madden and Marcie (Dustin) Ellis; grandmother to Nathan (Erin) Madden, Dalton Marshall and Dillon Marshall; greatgrandmother to James Madden;

sibling to Frances Marshall, Bill (Carla) Perry, Mavis (Rod) Enright, Pete (Linda) Perry, Karla Johnson, Bob Perry, Tim (Mikie) Perry, and Randy (Judy) Perry; aunt and greataunt to many cherished nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law to Viola Serreyn and Twyla (Lamoyne) Brandsma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; brothers-in-law, Glenn Marshall, Leo Serreyn, and Wendel Johnson.
A prayer service will be held at United Parish Church in Timber Lake on Friday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, November 5 at 2 p.m. followed by lunch at the Timber Lake Community Center.
