Tommie L. Hill “Akan Najin Win” (Stands Above Woman) was born May 21, 2006 to Ford Lee Hill and Mollie Lee in Eagle Butte. She was raised along Virgin Creek. Tommie attended Tiospaye Topa School in LaPlant from kindergarten through eleventh grade.

Tommie was a jingle dress dancer and had her very own style. She always dreamt of becoming a professional dancer and wanted to dance in front of thousands of people. One of her other many talents was drawing. Some her other aspirations were to become a professional fighter, a veterinarian, or a cosmetologist — anything that allowed her to travel the world.

Tommie enjoyed making videos, taking pictures, cooking, baking, learning about the Lakota language and culture, taking nature walks, and collecting rocks, which she had done since she was a little girl. She loved all animals, especially the calf her Uncle Pat gave her, which she named Skyla. She was also blessed with her cat Snowball and her dog Rocky.

Tommie is survived by her parents Ford L. Hill and Mollie P. Lee; brothers Craig and Delory Lee; sisters Keisha, Kelcie, Iris, MJ, Lyn’Dee and Cody; nieces Demi, KK, Khloe’, Jae’Rose and Alani; nephews Akicita, Jackson; and many other nieces and nephews; aunts Germaine Dunn, Arliss (Pat) Gray, and Lola Lee; uncles Floyd (Jean) Hill and family, Arlen, Glen, Lonnie, and Kee Lee; cousins Bobbie Pearman and children, Leslie LeCompte and children, Sami (Mike) Starr, Tina (Ted) Rousseau, Ty Lee, Shania (Trey) Lee, Sharon, Ivis and Isaiah Lee, Ashley and Thomas Lee, David Lee, Kyle and Priscilla Lee, Kirsten Pretty Weasel, and Olivia and Laurent Howard.
