Pearl Storm

A memorial service for Pearl Storm of Meadow will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 13, 2023 at Indian Creek Lutheran Church near Meadow with J.R. Wasson, officiating.

Pearl Agnes Witte was born to Frederick C and Katie A (Dreis) Witte on December 7, 1946 (Pearl Harbor Day) in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

In 1947, Fred, Katie, Ned (Pearl’s oldest brother) and Pearl moved to a farm northwest of the Witte homestead near Glad Valley and Meadow. Pearl attended Prairie View country school through the 5th grade. In 1959, the Wittes moved to McIntosh where they leased a farm 6 miles south of town. In the fall of 1964, the family moved to a farm near Princeton, MN.

After graduating from high school in 1965, Pearl stayed home to help her dad with her younger siblings. In 1967, she and her girlfriend moved to St. Cloud, MN where they were employed at Fingerhut and later at Aerospace in Princeton.

In 1967, Pearl met Milton Storm while visiting Lemmon, and in February 1968, she moved back to Lemmon where she was employed at the Palace Café until she and Milton were married on July 6, 1968. They moved to Milton’s ranch in the Meadow area where she helped with the ranch chores and raised their two boys, Rodney and Kevin. Pearl loved

animals, and could make a pet out of anything, from her bum lambs and bottle calves to barn cats, rabbits, pigs, horses, dogs, and anything else that came her way.

Beginning in 1994, she lived in Lemmon during the week while her sons were in high school. She was employed by the Before & After School program and became its director until it dissolved. She then went to work for the Lemmon School as assistant cook and worked there until May of 2004, when she resigned because of failing health.

She enjoyed her time working with young children and especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and later, greatgrandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and making doll clothes for her family members and clothes for her boys. She became an avid quilter after moving back to the ranch full-time, and during the following years, she helped make and donate more than 200 quilts with the church ladies. She was an active member of Indian Creek Lutheran Church for many years and was always willing to give a helping hand.

Pearl is survived by her husband of 54 years, Milton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Deena of Lemmon, and Kevin and Angela of Watertown; and grandchildren Troy (Shantel) of Huron, Emily (Jesse) Osterloh, Jimal, and Pearl Rose, all of Lemmon, Payton and Madelynne, of Watertown; and three great-grandchildren, Wilder Storm of Huron and Moira and Percival Osterloh of Lemmon; sisters, Patti, Carol, Linda, Carrie, and Gayla; brothers Paul and Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest brother Ned, younger brother Frederick Jr., and an infant nephew Charles Minks.
