Wayne Paul Claymore, 79, of Ridgeview entered the Spirit World on Friday, October 13, 2023, at his home in Box Elder.
Wayne was born on July 5, 1944 to Paul Amos and Blanche (Vasser) Claymore of Ridgeview. He lived a full and complete life. Wayne grew up on a ranch in Ridgeview, attended Bishop Hare Boarding School, graduated from Todd County High School, was a Golden Gloves boxer, set long distance records at Todd County High School, attended Black Hills State, was a tribal police officer in Rosebud and Ft. Thompson, held an appointed position as an attorney general of South Dakota, and worked on oil rigs in Montana until he returned to Eagle Butte to care for his elderly father, Paul Amos Claymore.
He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Gray, of Aberdeen; his son Wayne Paul Claymore, Jr. of Ring Thunder; his four daughters: Paula Jean Claymore of St. George, UT, Pollyanna Rhett Laden of Rapid City, Sophie Claymore of Martin and Monique Coats of New Underwood; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 24, at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Church Staff Mother Ellen Huber, Deacon Iva Traversie assisting and Rev. James Marrs officiating. Burial was at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery at LaPlant.
Rooks Funeral Services at Star Nation Center at Eagle Butte was in charge of arrangements.
