Edward Widow, 91, of Dupree passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at Cheyenne River Health Center in Eagle Butte.
A Cowboys Tribute will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 beginning at 12 p.m. at the 4-mile junction east of Eagle Butte with a wagon escort and horseback riders to the CRST Fairgrounds. The wagon will escort Ed into the rodeo arena for a final grand entry and memorial bronc ride. A luncheon will follow.
At 4:00 p.m. the wagon will escort Ed with military escorts to the CRST Bingo Hall for wake services. A Lakota service with hymns, gospel singers and music are welcomed, supper to follow.
On Sunday, December 3, 2023, traditional services will begin at 5:00

a.m. with sunrise services and breakfast. At 12:00 p.m. an escort will go from the CRST Bingo Hall to his place of birth at Cherry Creek with military escort. Mennonite services, LDS services and traditional services will follow as Ed is a pipe carrier. Honor guard will be provided by Sundance warriors.
On Monday, December 4, 2023, burial will begin with 5:00 a.m. sunrise services and breakfast. At 10:00 a.m. will be the last viewing and services followed by transport to Ed’s home, prayer, and onto Rt. 13 Junction. He will be laid to rest by his true love, Delma, at St. Mark’s Cemetery.
At Rt. 13 Junction there will be ATV and utility vehicle escort to the grave site with military honors.
