Big turnout for 10th annual Lake Isabel Fishing Contest
Participation in this year’s Lake Isabel Fishing Contest was up compared to previous years as the recent subzero cold streak snapped on Sunday, bringing high temperatures in the low 20s for competitors to contend with. While the weather cooperated, participants said the fish did not, as very few lunkers were landed during the event.

Organizers pushed the 10th annual Lake Isabel Ice Fishing Contest back a day - from Saturday, Jan. 20 to Sunday, Jan. 21 - due to extremely cold conditions and it paid off as the daytime highs reached into the lower
20s and the sun shined on the largest group of contestants entered in recent years.
