Arlene C. (Fast Horse-Traversie) Thompson, 81, of Eagle Butte, former longtime CRST Secretary, entered the Spirit World on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Cheyenne River Health Care Center at Eagle Butte.
Arlene is survived by two sons: Douglas LeCompte of Rapid City and Dugan Thompson of Eagle Butte; five daughters: Anne LeCompte of Timber Lake, Rhea LeCompte of LaPlant, Mary Jane Ducheneaux, Jerri (Casey) LaPlante, and Jacqueline (Smokey) Frost of Eagle Butte; adopted daughter Penny (Kyle) Brown of Omaha, NE; Hunka sons Tom Van Norman and Mark Van Norman; two brothers, Helbent (Sarah) Frazier of Tucson, AZ and Emmett (Jody) Thompson of Armstrong County; four sisters: Verlyn Fast Horse of Pierre, Bernie (Terry) Halfred of Eagle Butte, and Iva Jean (Mike) Carter of Scottsburg, IN; step-siblings Francis “Punchie” (Linda) Thompson and Frankie Thompson of White Horse, Lloyd (Caroline) Thompson of Bullhead, and Beatrice Gabe of Eagle Butte; sister-in-law Terry (Jim) Pearman of Eagle Butte; brother-in-law Kenton (Gloria) Thompson of Eagle Butte; 37 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
A CRST Tribal Honoring funeral service was held Monday, February 13, at the C-EB High School Auditorium with Shirley Dog Eagle and Valerie Curley officiating. Burial with CRST Tribal Honors was at the Eagle Butte Community Cemetery.
