David Charles Meile

October 29, 1970 – January 27, 2021

David Charles Meile, 50, of Ulysses, KS died January 27, 2021, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS.

He was born October 29, 1970, in Ulysses to Marvin and Pamela (Metcalf) Meile. Marvin was formerly of Isabel.

David grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1989. He continued his education at Ft. Hays State University, where he earned a degree in Industrial Technology and was a member of SigEp Fraternity. After college, he returned to Ulysses and became the general manager at Marvin’s Farm Equipment and Repair.

David married Shan Britton on June 13, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees. A lifetime member of the NRA, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the gun range. He loved going to the lake, boating and jet skiing, watching K-State football and tailgating. And most importantly, David loved spending time with his girls, the lights of his life.

David is survived by his wife, Shan; daughters Reile Meile and Britton Meilee; parents Marvin and Pamela Meile; brothers Nathan (Megan) Meile of Wamego, KS, and Chris Meile of Oklahoma City, OK; mother-in-law Susan Britton; brother-in-law Josh (Sarah) Britton; sisters-in-law Cara Britton and Jenna Britton; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, C.J. Metcalf, Eunice Metcalf Smith, and Carrie Meile; and father-in-law, Roger Britton.

Funeral services were held January 30, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating. Interment followed at the Ulysses Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the David Meile Memorial Scholarship Fund or United Methodist Church Youth, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
