Delano Doyle White Eagle (Wakinyan Ump Omani – Man that Walks with Lightning), 53, died March 2, 2023, at Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held at Rooks Funeral Service at Star Nation Center in Eagle Butte. Burial at a later date will take place at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery in Thunder Butte.
Delano White Eagle was born August 15, 1970, at Eagle Butte to Ruby Yvonne Red Legs – Takes the Gun and Wayne White Eagle Sr. The family made their home in Eagle Butte. Delano spent his childhood in Thunder Butte with his mom and siblings. He attended Dupree School, where he graduated from the 8th grade. He left Cheyenne River and attained his GED. He was residing in Sioux Falls when his life was tragically taken.
Delano is survived by brothers Edward “Chaz” White Eagle and Philip Nordvold, Skeets Dolphus (Tesla Clairmont), Arnold Clown Sr., Kenneth Clown, Narcisse Bruguier, Derek Bianas, Manual James Swan II, Todd Johns, Justin Knife, Jalen Knife, Tommy Red Tomahawk (LaChelle Eagle Chasing), Paul Garreaux (Taytum Condon), Charlie Marshall, and CL (Marlene) Good Nature; sisters: Sarah Clown, Rhea Jo Tom-Bearcomesout, A’Reta Tom, Lynnea Swan (Ben LaPoint), Ashley Elk Nation, Karlys Swan (Bryan Bender), Miriam Swan, Melissa and Tiara Carpenter, Lorraine Good Nature, Waynette Black Lance, Charla White Eagle, Wayneen White Eagle, Ricki and Donna Red Legs.
