Gloria Hawk Eagle, 69, of Green Grass, entered the spirit world, Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Hospice House of Rapid City.

Funeral services were Monday, December 28, 2020 at Green Grass Community Building with Ivan Looking Horse presiding. Burial followed in the Congregational Cemetery at Green Grass.

On October 13, 1951, Gloria Jean Hawk Eagle was born to Sylvester Hawk Eagle and Alberta Myrtle Blue Coat at the Old Cheyenne Agency Hospital.

She grew up in Green Grass and went to first grade in Isabel and attended junior high school at Cheyenne- Eagle Butte. During her high school years, she married Lyle Bad Male and they had two daughters: Robin Hope Bad Male and Dawn Rae Bad Male. Later, when she moved to Eagle Butte, she met Ben Elk Eagle and they married and had Benita Effie Elk Eagle.

In 1985, Ben and Gloria moved to Bismarck, ND and attended United Tribes Technical College. She earned her GED and then moved to Dupree, where she lived the remainder of her life and pursued her college degree through Northern State University in Aberdeen with online classes.

Gloria worked at CRST Housing Authority and Sioux YMCA as an accountant for many years and then the CRST Children’s Shelter. In 2013, she started her job at Sacred Heart as a women’s advocate. Gloria also worked at the CRST women’s shelter until her health failed.

Gloria is survived by her daughters: Dawn Rae Bad Male and Benita Effie Elk Eagle; a brother Richard Red Elk; one hunka sister, Darlene Moran; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her life time friend, Ben Elk Eagle of Dupree; auntie, Margie Clown; and six nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester Hawk Eagle and Alberta Blue Coat; four infant siblings; one daughter, Robin Hope Bad Male; and two grandsons, Tennyson Bad Male and “Huey” Richard Larrabee Jr.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
