Irene Knodel, 91, formerly of Isabel, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Bowdle Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at the United Church of Christ in Isabel. Burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery in Isabel under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Irene Schuh was born April 5, 1932, to Reinhold and Otilda Schuh in Corson County. She was raised and attended school in rural Corson County.
She married Raymond Knodel on September 11, 1971, in Isabel. The couple was never blessed with children but had many nieces and nephews to fill that gap.
Irene resided in Isabel and became the center point of all family gatherings. She was a homemaker and childcare provider for the local community, which she greatly enjoyed. She had a deep passion for children.
Irene and Ray lived in Isabel until October of 2015 when health issues forced a move to the Mobridge Care Center. After the care center closure, she moved to the Ipswich Care Center and later to the Bowdle Nursing Home.
Irene was an active member of the Isabel community and had a strong religious faith.
She is preceded in death by her

husband Raymond; mother and father; and brother Ervin Schuh.
Irene leaves a sister, Violet Fuller, in California, and multiple nieces and nephews.
