December 28, 1947 — February 1, 2022
Funeral services for Lila Faye Long, 74 of Timber Lake were held Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Timber Lake Community Center with burial in Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Lila Faye was born on December 28, 1947 at the Old Cheyenne Agency to Ernest “Tuffy” and Mary (Collins) Ducheneaux, 11th out of 14 children. Lila Faye was raised on the banks of Virgin Creek in Promise. She attended school in Promise, White Horse, Stephan and lastly Timber Lake, where she met and fell in love with Ronnie Long. They were married on January 17, 1966. She remembers people saying, “It’s never going to last” but they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They had three daughters, Bonita, Rhonda and Sheri. In 2000 she adopted a son, Eric Tuckner of New Richmond, WI.
Lila was a kind, caring lady who would do anything for her loved ones. She was always laughing and joking. Her laugh was contagious. Lila loved her grandchildren and was very proud of them. She enjoyed driving through the pasture looking at her cows. Branding time would find her sitting with her cap on, pen and paper in hand, counting her herd. She fed EVERYONE. She enjoyed cooking, especially during the holidays. She loved music, every kind of music, but Elvis was her favorite. Lila enjoyed reading, word search, playing cards and Yahtzee. She also loved camping and visiting with everyone.
Lila loved Facebook. She didn’t have it completely figured out and would call one of her daughters in a panic wondering how to remove something she accidentally posted.
Lila is survived by her husband Ronnie; daughters Bonita Richter, Rhonda (Gerald) Takes the Knife and Sheri (Marty) Thompson; son Eric (Abby) Tuckner; grandchildren Jaclyn, Marilyn, Gerald Jr., Dayton (Tommy), Justin, Jamie, Ronnilyn, Skye, Alli, Cheyenne and Kaycie; great-grandchildren Ridge Rowdy and Bryar Blair; and three siblings - Arlyce Wientjes, Mary Jane Anderson and Tommy Ducheneaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Phyllis Gunville, Audrey Hagel, Janice Aberle, Delores Ward, Sharon Keller, Bunny Sue Thompson, Debbie Lawrence and Butchie Thompson; brothers Lyle and Roman Ducheneaux; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
