Mass of Christian Burial for Peggy Lawrence, 73, of Timber Lake will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. Burial will be at St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery in White Horse under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Peggy passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Peggy Louise Lawrence was born in Rapid City on May 11, 1950 to Robert and Delphine Lawrence. She was raised in White Horse and attended elementary school in Stephan and high school in Eagle Butte.
In 1968 she married Ansel White Eyes. They became parents to Robbi, Jayme, Lonny, and twin daughters, deceased at birth. Peggy gave birth to Jarrett in 1980.
Peggy worked for the Indian Health Service and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for several years. She spent her last years of working at The Mni Mart and Timber Lake Service.
Peggy moved to Timber Lake in 2015 to live with her sisters, Faye, Lorita, Janet, and Almeda, better known as “The Granties.” She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandkids, family and friends. Family gatherings were a favorite pastime for Peggy. This involved numerous hours of playing cards. She loved going to PBR (Professional Bull riding) events and concerts, watching football and betting on games. The Granties became adventurous a couple of years ago and bought a camper and made many memories during their camping trips.
Peggy is survived by her sisters, “The Granties” Clarice Bender, Lorita Hall, Janet Keckler, Faye Kraft and sister-in-law Almeda Lawrence; her children: Robbi (Ramon) Birkeland, Jayme (Jayci) White Eyes, Lonny White Eyes, and Jarret Lawrence; her grandchildren: Randee (Ryan) Murnion, Brandee (Brad) Sayler, Bailee (Drew) Birkeland, Clifton Birkeland, and Lance, Andrew, Tayevia, Kynzlei, Edith, Jamerson, Mason, Ilya (baby Jaymi) Layne,Peggy Robbi Louise, Trevor, Justina, Tierny, Jenner, Shana, Spencer, Jackson, Evany, Jes, and Wes; great-grandchildren: Teigyn, Levi, Logyn, Hays, Paxtyn, Rory, Loxlee, Tre’Ann, Jalen, and Lucia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Delphine Lawrence; twin daughters; brother Robby Tom Lawrence and great-granddaughter Leah Sayler.
