Raymond Fischer, 78, of Hudson and formerly of Eagle Butte, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at his home.

A graveside memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., MT, Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Eagle Butte Cemetery, where his family will speak and say prayers. He will be buried along with his brotherin-law, Michael McDougal, who passed away January 12, 2014.

Raymond was the son of Casper and Katherine Fischer. At the tender age of 18, Raymond married Pamela McDougal, daughter of Miller “Mac” and Glenna. Pam marrying Raymond when she was only 16 is not what the McDougals had planned for their daughter, but they quickly recognized the love Pam and Raymond had for each other. What started out as a reportedly solemn event attended only by their mothers, ended up with countless memories of love and laughter shared by the two families who united as one.

Tami, a true daddy’s girl, was their only child until 19 years later, another “surprise” came along and they were blessed with their son R.J. R.J. and Brenda’s children, Chanel, Paz and Axel, brought Raymond immeasurable joy.

Raymond was a kind, humble, loving, and hardworking man all his life. He was full of integrity and wisdom. He never was one to take a handout, instead always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. He put the needs of others, especially his family, in front of his own, teaching them the meaning of unconditional love.

He is preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Surviving are brothers Andy (Joy) Fischer and Leo (Lois) Fischer, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg is in charge of arrangements.
