Rickey “Rick” Marone

Rickey Wayne “Rick” Marone, 61, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Sanford (USD) Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery at Huron.

Rickey Wayne Marone, the son of Ronald and DeMeris (Smith) Marone, was born on February 5, 1960 in Huron. Rick grew up on a farm near Cavour and graduated from Huron High School. He worked as a tow truck operator for Ace Towing Inc. for many years and was recently working as the shop foreman for Sioux Falls Crane and Hoist.

Rick had a memorable laugh, grin, and twinkle in his eye. He never met a stranger that he didn’t view as a friend and was always willing to help anyone that needed it. He was a very creative artist who loved collecting cars, motorcycles, and tools. Everything was fixable to Rick. He enjoyed his dog Popeye and going to Hot Harley Nights and the Sturgis Bike Rally every year. Rick was one of the organizers for the Wheel Jam Truck Show.

Grateful for having shared in Rick’s life are his parents: DeMeris Marone of Isabel and Ronald (Lorraine) Marone of Cavour; three daughters, Misty (Brandon) Heck of Isabel, Jamie (Eric) Hoggarth of Aberdeen and Ali (Corey) Higgins of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Corporal Kuper Heck USMC, Kenlea, Korbi, Chloe, Hadleigh, Gunner, Paisley, and Cooper; siblings Dave (Jody) Marone of Pukwana, Kristi (David) Alley of Isabel, Scot (Tracy) Marone of Huron, Josh Kogel of Cavour, and Tenaya Nelson of Crofton, NE; all his nieces and nephews; and special friend Autumn Davis and their puppy Popeye.

Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents Al and Molly Smith and Richard and Clara Marone; uncles Russell Marone, George Marone, Jack Tounsley; aunt Betty and uncle Don Olson; and special cousin Sandy Wilson.
