Tamera M. Crow, 62, of Eagle Butte passed away August 18, 2026, at Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge.
Funeral services were held August 31, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte.
Tamera M. Crow was born July 10, 1964 in Eagle Butte to Lawrence Rufus Crow Sr. and Betty Lou Clown. She was the third child of seven in their family.
Tammy spent her early years in Red Elm, running wild on the prairie, with her brothers and sisters and cousins, keeping her mom and dad on their toes. Tammy attended school in Dupree. She especially enjoyed and excelled in math class. Tammy worked at the Head Start kitchen with her Aunt Mary Clown for a few years and also worked part time at the Super 8 Motel. She attended Si Tanka College working towards an accounting degree. She also filled in as a babysitter for all her nieces and nephews, as well as the babies and children for her multitude of friends.
Tammy met her partner, Delwayne “Poncho” Larrabee, around 1994 or 1995. Poncho helped Tammy with her family as best he could. Although they were never married, everyone thought of them as such.
Tammy suffered through losing her baby boy, Asa LaRue Crow. In an act of kindness, her sister, Brenda Veit, bestowed her youngest girl, Jorae Butchie, to Tammy. She raised Butchie alongside her daughters, Bokoo and Brenna, as her own.
Nothing made Tammy happier than when her grandchildren were born. It became her sole purpose to show them all the love she had.
Tammy is survived by her children: Bokoo Lisa of Michigan, Brenna Lace of Eagle Butte, and Jorae Butchie of Eagle Butte; grandchildren Morningstar Rose, Jalen-Ryane Shae, Charles-Keegan Rufus, Lilly May, Roy”l Pearl, Rollin’ Thunder and River Bernadine; great-grandsons Myles Grayson-Harry and Summit Daniel-Hayes; sister Lolly Jane of Eagle Butte; brother Kirk LaRue of Sisseton; nieces Frankee Marie, Sabra Lee, Joni Rae, Karyne Jo, Mary Grace, Koren Rae and Heidi Marie; nephews Colt Charles, Roy Rollin, Kirkie Larue Jr., Brett Wayne, Melvin Harlan, Matthew Gill, Shawn Gene, Lewis Lou and Xavier Lou.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Anna (Red Bird) Clown, Lawrence Rufus Crow Sr. and Lucille (Young) Madison; parents, Betty Lou Clown and Lawrence Rufus Crow, Jr.; baby boy Asa Larue; partner Poncho; grandchildren Cantè Tehila Win and Range Walker; nephew Ford Loren; sister Brenda Bernadine; brothers Lou James, Asa Charles and Lawrence Rufus III; aunts Alma, Carol, Phoebe, Pat and Mary Clown, Mary Jane Lafferty, Janice and Georgianne Madison; her uncles True Sr., Richard, Carlin, Stuart and Larry Clown, Kenny and Arnold Madison.
