Trevor High Elk, 17, of Dupree, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021 at his home in Dupree.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Pioneer Hall in Dupree. Burial was in the Dupris Family Cemetery.
Trevor Jo High Elk was born March 9, 2004 in Pierre to Jessie High Elk. His aunty Tre’ Luna named him Trevor and aunty Keisha High Elkgave him his middle name Jo.
Trevor grew up in the Eagle Butte and Dupree areas where he attended Head Start, kindergarten, elementary and high school. He played grade school basketball and football for the Dupree Tigers.
Trevor enjoyed fishing down at the Moreau River and hunting out in the country in the Thunder Butte area. He also enjoyed playing video games, building Legos, drawing, listening to music, and playing his guitar.
Trevor had a deep love for his family, especially his grandmother Audrey, who raised him since the age of oneWhenever his grandmother needed assistance with chores around the house, Trevor was always willing to give a helping hand.
Trevor will be missed by his family and friends and will be remembered for his teasing, laughing and big smile.
Trevor is survived by his mother, Jessie High Elk (Desmond Conica) of Cannonball, ND; grandma, Audrey High Elk of Dupree; grandfather, Gerald High Elk of Dupree and Janice Bass of Winnebago, NE; sister, Maliyah High Elk of Dupree; brother, Este’ban High Elk of Dupree; aunties Tracy (Lupe) Luna and family of Provo, UT, Keisha High Elk and family of Dupree, Mony High Elk and family of Dupree, Melanie Tomko and family of Eagle Butte, Angel High Elk (Amber) and family of Eagle Butte; uncles: Jobe Cruz and family of Clarksville, TN and Perry Cruz and family of Rapid City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-great-grandmother Julie Ward; great-grandparents Percy and Rose Dupris, Sr; grandma Elverna Dupris; grandpas Percy Dupris, Jr., Richard Young, Sr., and Federico “Juan” Martinez; uncles Dion Knife and Delano Waloke; and paternal great-great-grandparents Jobe and Estella High Elk; great-grandmother Corrine Mae High Elk; grandpas Carl Dean Red Bird, Benedict Red Bird, and Perry Bruce Kills First; aunt Nicole M. High Elk; and cousin Kubria “Baby Rain” Flying By-Tomko.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
