Lady Panthers fall in state qualifier

Timber Lake girls finish season with 16-6 overall mark

    A Castlewood team loaded with veterans scored both inside the paint and out to beat the Timber Lake Lady Panthers 74-46 in the SoDak 16 state tournament qualifier played in Redfield last Thursday, March 2. The Lady Panthers finished the season 16-6 overall.

    “I’m very proud of the girls,” said Coach Erin Gimbel. “We fell just shy of our goal of making it to the state tournament but this is a resilient group of young athletes. We’ll have a lot of returning players next winter and they’re hungry to get better and get us to that goal.”

    Graduation will hit the roster hard as the Lady Panthers lose four seniors - leading scorers Shay Kraft and Carlie Lawrence, along with steady contributors Cindy Hoyt and Abby Linderman.
