Timber Lake’s Hadley Thompson claimed second place at the Mobridge-Pollock Golf Invitational in Mobridge last Wednesday, April 30, and followed that by winning top honors at the Eureka Invitational on Saturday, May 3.

Isabel’s Levi Berndt won the tie down roping event on the first day of the Huron Jr. High Rodeo on Friday, May 2, and followed with a fourth place effort in chute dogging on Saturday, May 3. He clocked in at 19.390 to win the tie down and finished in 9.620 in chute dogging.

Mobridge native trains Kentucky Derby winner

The trainer of the horse that won Saturday’s Kentucky Derby is originally from Mobridge.Sovereignty had 7-1 odds of winning the 1¼ mile long Kentucky Derby for four-time trainer of the year Bill Mott, but the colt did it in a time of 2:02.31. The win was worth $3.

Timber Lake’s golf teams turned in strong performances last week with the varsity boys earning a three-way tie for second place at the Philip Invitational while the junior varsity boys landed third overall at the Potter County JV Invitational in Gettysburg.
