Contestants from Dewey County and the surrounding area were among the place winners at recent South Dakota Rodeo Association (SDRA) and North Dakota Rodeo Association (NDRA) events.

Dupree used a two-pronged rushing attack and a run-stuffing defense to steam roll the Faith Longhorns 4214 in the 2023 high school football season opener for both teams last Thursday, Aug. 17. Dupree travels to Lemmon-McIntosh on Friday, Aug.

Mark Sandquist of Trail City and the Harper boys - Drew and Jess of Faith, turned in championship performances at the 2023 South Dakota 4-H Finals Rodeo held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 18-20, in Ft. Pierre.

Lemmon-McIntosh scored on its first possession against Timber Lake last Friday, Aug. 18, in the Class 9A football season opener for both teams, but it would be the Cowboys only trip to the end zone as the Panthers used big plays from their new-found passing offense to claim a 32-6 victory.
