Three CRST members complete Basic Telecommuniations course

Three members of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe are among 24 students who completed and graduated from South Dakota’s Basic Telecommunicator Certification course in Pierre last Friday, Jan. 17.The graduates include Jaymalee Turning Heart, A’Dyn Moran, AriAnna Reedeand Xandria Norris.

Timber Lake School board approves move to 4-day week

After several months of surveys and debate, theTimber Lake School Board voted 3-1 last Wednesday, Jan. 15, to approve moving to a 4-day school week beginning with the 2025-26 school year.On the same night, the Dupree School Board voted on a similar proposal but rejected the move by a 4-1 vote.

Disaster aid filing deadline extended for CRST members

The Department of Labor and Regulation announced this week that the deadline has been extended to Feb. 28, 2025, for Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal members to apply for federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits.
Deputy Parker DeRouchey has joined the Corson County Sheriff’s Office. DeRouchey comes from Meade County, where he worked as a 911 Dispatcher and a Reserve Police Officer for the city of Sturgis. DeRouchey will be making his home in McIntosh.
