Meals on Wheels offers alternative for seniors affected by site closures

After being reminded by the state that it remains under contract to provide services through September 2025, Western South Dakota Senior Services Inc. this week unveiled an alternative delivery method for Meals on Wheels clients affected by the closure of area senior nutrition sites.

Friends raising funds for Stankeys, who lost their home to fire

Junior (Bernal) Stankey and his wife Ramona lost their Brown County home and garage to a fire on September 11. The Stankey home, which was declared a total loss, was located about a mile and a half north of Bath.Bernal and Ramona escaped the fire and both were taken by ambulance to a hospital.

State Highway Patrol Trooper John Berndt, a 1997 graduate of McIntosh High School, was recently named Hero of the Year at the National Promenade of the Society of the Forty Men and Eight Horses, more commonly known as the Forty and Eight.
