On Sunday afternoon, September 15, former Timber Lake resident Lois Crocker came to Biegler’s Timber Lake Service hoping to meet up with friends. With a few phone calls and a Facebook post, along with the normal BTLS traffic, she did get to see quite a few people.

“God was always part of my life whether I realized it or not,” said Sam Mortenson, who turned 96 on September 6.Born in 1928 in the coal country of northwest North Dakota near Noonan and Crosby, Mortenson was the middle of five children.

Isabel Trustees contemplating reduction in town speed limits

The heating and cooling system in the Isabel Community Center was the main topic of discussion at the community’s Board of Trustees meeting last Tuesday, Sept. 10, but members also proposed a reduction in speed limits in town.

School board accepts bids for snow removal

The Timber Lake School Board breezed through a relatively quick meeting last Wednesday, Sept. 11, with agenda items that included accepting a bid for snow removal this winter.As was the case last year, Three Seasons Tent Rental of Timber Lake submitted the only bid for the service.

Just prior to the Timber Lake City Board’s meeting on Monday, September 9, approval was received from the SD Dept. of Ag and Natural Resources to move ahead with bidding on the water system improvement project. That was the green light the board was waiting for.
