Straight-line winds up to 80 mph tore the roof off the 4-H exhibit building at the Dupree Rodeo Grounds on Saturday night, July 13. With the arena flooded and tin strewn throughout the complex, Day 2 of the 64th annual Ziebach County 4-H Rodeo planned for Sunday, July 14 was cancelled.

A collaborative effort by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, an Ohio safari park and conservation center, and other organizations has led to 74 bison being relocated and adopted into the tribe’s herd.

Kraft re-elected president of TL School Board

Jake Kraft was re-elected president of the Timber Lake School Board last Wednesday, July 10, while new board member Doug Lawrence was sworn into office. Brandon Heck was elected vice-president of the board.

The adventure has begun

Tommy the Weather Turtle made a special appearance at the Dewey County Library to help kick-start the summer reading program: Adventure Begins at Your Library. The program will be held every Wednesday through the month of July. Over 25 children participated the first day.

Rancher, rodeo supporter, and one-time bronc and bull rider Whitey Keller is this year’s Ranch and Rodeo Honoree, along with his son Bruce.Each year since 2011, the Timber Lake Rodeo Association and the Timber Lake & Area Historical Society have selected the Ranch and Rodeo Honorees.

Trail City News

The weather in Trail City this past week was one of the hottest weeks of the summer so far.Bill Hahne spent his weekend in the hills for the Litschewski/Hahne family reunion. While he was there, he visited Clint and Nicole Price. Bill came home on Sunday evening.
