No contests for Conservation District seats

July 1 was the deadline to file nominating petitions for all five vacancies on the Dewey County Conservation District Board of Supervisors. With petitions filed by only the five incumbents, there will be no election for the seats.

Aidan Rough Surface of Timber Lake was sworn into the United States Marine Corps on June 10 and is attending boot camp in San Diego, CA.The June 10 event was actually his second swearing-in. He was also sworn in after joining the Marine Corps when he turned 18 in April 2023.

Germans from Russia Heritage Society to hold International Convention

Germans from Russia descendants will converge on Mandan, ND for the 53rd Annual International Germans from Russia Heritage Society (GRHS) Convention, July 17-20.The convention will be held at the Baymont Inn and Suites, Mandan. It kicks off with a pre convention bus tour on Wednesday, July 17.

Dewey/Ziebach County Farmers Union Day Camp

Farmers Union hosted a day camp in Dupree, on June 28. Youth spent the afternoon focused on learning more about the history of cooperatives through games and interactive lessons. Time was spent playing games, making crafts, and learning about different types of digestive systems.

Paving to begin on 212 and 63 in Dupree-EB area

On Monday, July 15, work will begin on an asphalt milling and resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 212 from one mile west of Dupree east 20 miles to the east side of Eagle Butte. In addition, S.D. Highway 63 from the junction with Highway 212 north 17 miles will be milled and resurfaced.
