Library Happenings: Summer reading program begins in July

The library and volunteers are working on the Summer Reading program that will be held in July. There will be more information out soon. The theme is Unearth a Story, there will presentations on archaeology, dinosaurs, nutrition, birds and much more.

Badger Clark book wins prestigious award

Badger Clark: Poetry Wrangler, published by the South Dakota Historical Society (SDHS) Press, has won the 2025 Western Heritage Wrangler Award in the Outstanding Juvenile Book category. The award was presented to the book’s author, Nancy Bo Flood, at the Western Heritage Awards ceremony on April 11.

Voters will nominate candidates in June 2 primary election

South Dakota’s primary election will be held next Tuesday, June 2. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time in all precincts.In the primary election, Democrat and Republican voters select candidates from their political party to advance to the general election on November 3.

Timber Lake School Board hires staff, still has vacancies

The year is wrapping up at Timber Lake School with only a few more sports events to round things out. This month’s school board meeting on May 13 focused on summer projects and getting things ready for the next year.

Eagle Butte man convicted on federal sexual abuse charges

An Eagle Butte man has been convicted on federal sexual abuse charges following a three-day jury trial in Rapid City, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota.A federal jury found Emanual Semon, 24, guilty of sexual abuse without consent and sexual abuse of a minor.
