SHERIFF’S REPORT

April 8 8:24 p.m. responded to a residence in McLaughlin for a report of a male that was shot in the leg. Investigation was turned over to BIA Police. April 9 7:12 a.m. assisted the McIntosh Ambulance with a medical call at a residence in McIntosh. 10:47 a.m.

Timber Lake students earn 14 awards at NWAS Academic Olympics

TLHS students collected 14 awards at the annual Northwest Area Schools Academic Olympics competition held at Dupree on April 17.

Secretary of State provides information regarding absentee voting

The absentee voting period for South Dakota’s June 4 Primary Election began April 19. To request an absentee ballot, voters must submit an absentee ballot application form to the county auditor.

200 Club Drawings

The Sacred Heart Parish Church of Dupree held their monthly 200 Club drawings on Sunday, April 21 following Holy Mass and evening supper at the church hall. Peggy McLellan of Eagle Butte won two drawings, a $50 and a $25. Ramon Birkeland of Dupree also won $50 and $25.

DHS National Honor Society

New members of the Dupree High School chapter of the National Honor Society were inducted at a ceremony on April 11. 1st Row (L-R): Wambli Quintana, Cameron Dekle, Jayden Marshall, Cruz Birkeland, Spencer Olsen, Case DePoy, Fletcher Birkeland, Jeremiah Tiger, and Bobby Brewer.

Dupree FFA recent results of judging competition

The Dupree FFA, under the advisement of Doug Hofer, has been busy learning about judging and competing and they’ve been to a few events this spring. Recently they competed at Sturgis and here are the results: The DHS Ag Mechanics team did exceptionally well as they placed fourth overall.

Students of the Month

The Dupree School would like to present their JH/HS March Students of the Month. The honorees are (L-R) Matthew Lemke, who is a senior at DHS, and Chris Baker, who is in the seventh grade. JH/HS Principal Russell Budmayr presented each of the students with a $20 gift card to the Lakota Thrifty Mart.
