SDSU Beef Quality Assurance training set in Timber Lake

SDSU Extension is offering two Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training courses on January 30 in Mound City and Timber Lake. The first training will begin at 1:00 PM CT in Mound City at the MC83 Bar. Corner Grill and Bar will be the site for the 6:30 PM MT training in Timber Lake.

County to hire third sheriff’s deputy

The Dewey County Commission began the new year on January 2 with the annual reorganization meeting, where Bob Berndt was reelected chairman and Bob Keckler vice-chair. Other commissioners are Rod Enright, Dee Ann Lawrence and Mandy Locken.

Timber Lake Rodeo Assn. reorganizes board of directors

At its annual meeting on December 20, the Timber Lake Rodeo Association re-elected Shaun Maher as president, Derek Long as vice-president, Rusty Gebhardt as secretary and Brent Schweitzer as treasurer. Patrick Maher was replaced by J.J. Hunt as a director.

Christmas Tree Contest raises $700 for Museum

The glittery red and white Christmas tree (#14) decorated by the Auditor’s Office won the Christmas Tree Contest at the Dewey County Courthouse. The 14 trees, each decorated by one of the county offices, collected $706.36 in cash donations which will go to the Timber Lake Museum.

Corson County Sheriff Alan Dale December 18 12:01 p.m. delivered a death notification at a residence in McLaughlin. 4:36 p.m. responded to a car vs deer accident on Highway 12 by the Grand River Casino. 4:50 p.m. responded to a two vehicle private property accident at a business in McLaughlin.
